NFCT Paddlers Rendezvous: Saturday July 24
Stewardship Event
When: Noon - 4 pm
Where: Rangeley Lakes Region Logging Museum [Directions]

The NFCT Trail Crew has been in Rangeley this week getting ready for you!
Using Traditional Tools to Build Bog Bridging
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is currently working with the Town of Rangeley and the Rangeley Lakes Region Logging Museum to develop a trail linking Haley Pond to the Logging Museum. This trail will allow paddlers to spend less time portaging on the road and will allow a more direct connection to the Logging Museum. As part of this project we will need to create bog bridging. We would like to showcase this process at the NFCT 10th Anniversary Celebration by setting up stations that will be accessible to those participating in the celebration. We will be using traditional tools like the cross cut saw and adze to shape locally harvested lumber. Our Stewardship Intern Crew will be fabricating the bog bridging and volunteers will be welcome to participate.
The Highline Challenge
As part of the NFCT 10th Anniversary Celebration we will be joining the Rangeley Lakes Region Logging Museum to set up a "Highline Challenge". This activity will be located at the Logging Museum along with all of the logging competitions associated with the heritage day. Participants can test their skills at lifting and stacking 3 wooden blocks with pin-point accuracy using the Griphoist pictured above and highline system. This is a timed event with the added challenge of the Griphoist operator being blindfolded. The duo with the best time will win official NFCT merchandise.
