The Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge helps to preserve and protect the flora and fauna of the Connecticut River Watershed. The Nulhegan Basin Division Visitor Contact Center in Island Pond has an array of exhibits on the natural and cultural history of the watershed, as well as trails leading to the Nulhegan River and surrounding forests and wetlands. Note the visitor center is often on weekends.
