Author George W. Sears – best known as Nessmuk – made lightweight canoes popular when he wrote about his trips in the late 19th century. In September 2015, his great-great-great grandson Will Madison retraced much of Nessmuk’s 1883 canoe trip from the Old Forge area to Paul Smiths and back. Madison will present a slideshow about his trip and also share stories about his historic relative.
