Hello, 2010 solo-through paddler, Alex Niemela here. I’m just checking in on the new forum the NFCT has created. I will be checking here frequently to help answer any questions potential paddlers have. Also, I will be keeping an eye on this forum because my wife and I are planning a through paddle for the 2020 or 2021 season. Anyway, I’ll keep this short, because I’m sure other paddlers will have plenty to say, but let me first say this. If you are thinking about doing a through paddle of the NFCT, do it. Stop making excuses and get your gear together, do some planning and go for it. Paddling the NFCT was a life-changing experience for me and I will cherish every moment I spent on this trail, good and bad. There will be many moments of bliss and many moments of “why am I do this, will I ever get up this river?”
Do it, don’t put it off, no time will ever be the right time unless that time is NOW.
