    Hello Whitesocks,
Kalmia is on spot as usual. The NFCT is in the process of developing on on-line/mobile friendly map showing trail infrastructure. We have been field verifying data and compiling detailed feature information for a number of years now and are currently raising the funding needed to make the integration happen. Sorry to say it will not be ready for a 2016 launch.

In NY I heard a rumor that no paddle cart has ever made the whole length of a thru-paddle… is that true?!?

From the feedback I have gotten, there are plenty of carts that have made it the whole trip, although I have never heard of a cart that made it the whole trip without some type of repair.

Just got word they are back up again. Looks like this will be a reoccurring event until possibly 2017. Here are two documents that explain what is going on further:

The cables were a part of a river remediation project and have been removed for the 2014 paddle season. I floated through this area in May and the portage and cables are no longer in place.

    Hello Tom,
Any luck coordinating a shuttle? One idea may be piecing together a variety of shuttle services across the Trail. We have a number of shuttle services/guides/outfitters that have a certain territory. They can be found on the “Plan a Trip” section of the NFCT website (http://www.northernforestcanoetrail.org/PlanaTrip-2/Services-Along-NFCT-76) and on the NFCT Trip Planner Map Tool. You may be able to get passed off like a baton. It is a little more complicated and I’m not sure if it would save you any money, but may be one option to look into.
