Invest in the future of the 90-Miler

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Adirondack Watershed Alliance are excited to be working towards transferring the activities traditionally run by AWA — the Adirondack Canoe Classic, Round the Mountain and Long Lake Long Boat Regatta — to NFCT’s care by 2021.

NFCT needs your help! We must raise $68,800 by March 31 to complete this transaction.

Like most nonprofits, our NFCT team had to reassess its plans when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Regardless of the unforeseen challenges, we are still fully committed to take on AWA’s beloved events and activities by the start of the next paddling season.

We are forever grateful to Brian and Grace McDonnell and the legacy AWA has built over nearly 40 years; these races and events are synonymous with paddling in the Adirondacks. We take our responsibility to carry that legacy forward seriously. In partnership with the many communities, businesses and individuals that make these events possible, we are committed to continue investing in paddlesports and outdoor recreation across the Northern Forest.

Help us turn event registration fees into improvements to waterway access, portage routes and campsites across the Adirondacks. Contribute to NFCT today!

Taking ownership of these events and activities will cost NFCT approximately $90,000. We’re working to meet this goal by March 2021. Earlier this year, we received a generous matching gift of $20,000 from John and Deanna Sammon of Raquette Lake. Many individuals have already responded to help us meet this challenge, but we still have a long way to go.

If you love the 90-Miler and all that the AWA contributes to paddling in the Adirondacks, please make a tax-deductible donation to the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

We look forward to caring for the 90-Miler community and hope that longtime AWA supporters will become part of the NFCT family as Brian and Grace pass the paddle to us.
