The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is an equal opportunity employer. Below are opportunities for working with us in 2019.
Stewardship Crew Leader: The Crew Leader will work alongside a team of interns to implement projects along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, a 740-mile water trail that traverses New York, Vermont, Quebec, New Hampshire, and Maine. The Crew Leader will oversee crew operations, ensure adherence to safety guidelines, and work with interns and volunteers to complete stewardship projects. Learn more and apply.
Stewardship Interns: Three interns will work as a team with the guidance of the Crew Leader to complete trail work along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Following more than two weeks of training, interns will complete a variety of hands-on field projects, including constructing new campsites, installing stone staircases, and clearing portage trails. GIS Interns: The NFCT will be hiring two “GIS interns” to help complete a recreational inventory, assessment, and community engagement project that will identify stewardship needs, cultivate new partnerships, and improve online resources that guide citizens in their water-based activities in Western Maine.
