Fall Foliage Paddles in the ADKs

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is teaming up with its local outfitter partners in the Adirondacks for a series of fall foliage paddle meet-ups.

Sept. 28: Saranac River paddle with St. Regis Canoe Outfitters

Join your friends from St. Regis Canoe Outfitters and the NFCT for a fall foliage paddle on the Saranac River, Thursday, Sept. 28. We’ll meet at SRCO’s shop at 73 Dorsey Street, Saranac Lake, at 4:30 pm and launch across the street at their put-in. From there, we’ll paddle downstream to the NFCT take-out at McCasland Bridge. This trip is suitable for paddlers of all skill levels and takes about two hours. There’s no charge to participate, but SRCO can provide boat rentals for $20 if needed; free transportation provided by SRCO. For more information, email [email protected] or [email protected].

Sept. 30: Raquette River oxbow paddle with Raquette River Outfitters

Join your friends from Raquette River Outfitters and the NFCT for a fall foliage paddle on the oxbow of the Raquette River, Saturday, Sept. 30. We’ll meet at RRO’s shop at 1754 State Route 30, Tupper Lake, at 10 am and launch across the street. From there, we’ll paddle up the oxbow, around Simon Pond, and return to the launch across from RRO. This trip is suitable for paddlers of all skill levels and takes about three hours. Oct. 6: Second Pond to Lake Flower with Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters

Join your friends from Adirondack Lakes and Trails Outfitters and the NFCT for a fall foliage paddle from Second Pond to Lake Flower, Friday, Oct. 6. We’ll meet up at ALTO at 8 Church Street in Saranac Lake at 3:30 pm to catch a ride to the Second Pond boat launch, or you can meet us at the boat launch at 4 pm. This three-hour paddle goes from Second Pond to the channel to the Lower Locks, then from Oseetah Pond to Lake Flower. We’ll end at ALTO for a campfire and drinks. No charge to participate, but feel free to talk to the folks at ALTO about boat rentals. For more information, email [email protected] or [email protected].
