5th Annual Film Festival Paddles into Lake Placid

WAITSFIELD, Vt. – The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) will bring its 5^th Annual Northern Forest Paddlers Film Festival to Lake Placid on Thursday, April 28 at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and screenings begin at 7:00 p.m.

Five documentary films will cover a range of themes on recreational canoeing and kayaking, from finding record whitewater kayak waterfall runs, to a family’s cross-Canada canoe journey, to a quadriplegic who doesn’t let his disability get in the way of catching the perfect wave.

"We have an excellent lineup of films this year, celebrating the diverse culture of paddling and the beauty of the places our boats take us," said NFCT Executive Director Kate Williams. "We look forward to the opportunity that these Film Fest evenings provide for us to meet with members, paddlers, and other adventurers. We couldn’t do it without the efforts of Adirondack Lakes and Trails Outfitters’ manager Jason Smith!"

Films include Birthright, Finding Farley, This is Canoeing, OLVM 36, and Wild Water.

Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit NFCT programs.

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is a 740-mile inland paddling trail tracing historic travel routes across New York, Vermont, Québec, New Hampshire, and Maine. NFCT connects people to the Trail’s natural environment, human heritage, and contemporary communities by stewarding, promoting, and providing access to canoe and kayak experiences along this route.  NFCT, Inc was incorporated in 2000 and is a 501(c)3 membership organization.
