Northern Forest Canoe Trail Hiring for Staff and Internships

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is seeking applicants for a year-round, part-time position and ten seasonal internship positions. These openings offer a marvelous opportunity to learn about nonprofit management and recreational trails planning.

The New Hampshire-Maine Regional Field Coordinator is a part-time position responsible for overseeing and developing field projects along the eastern half of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. The position also includes the supervision of interns and support of volunteers. Applications due by March 4, 2016.

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail-National Park Service Internship position responsibilities will include gathering trail data and imagery, and integrating the collected data into an ArcGIS system. Efforts will also be focused on managing trail usage data and development of trail management plan topics. Duration: flexible between Mar. 1–Aug. 26, 2016. There are seven Stewardship Internship positions focused on building and improving campsites and portage trails. Interns will be divided into three crews to work on Maine’s Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Maine’s Flagstaff Lake and Bow Loop Trail, or on a roving crew. Duration: June 13–Aug. 19, 2016. Applications are due by March 8, 2016.

There are two Northern Forest Explorer Internship positions open to lead youth ages 10–14 on week-long paddling trips along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Duration: June 13–Aug. 19, 2016. Applications are due by March 8, 2016.
