Paddling Film Festival Heads to The Forks, Maine

WAITSFIELD, Vt.  The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) is co-hosting Rapid Media’s Reel Northern Outdoors logoPaddling Film Festival World Tour 2013 in The Forks, Maine with Northern Outdoors on Saturday, June 8 at Northern Outdoors Forks Resort Center. The film festival showcases the best paddling films from around the world. Proceeds from the event support the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Northern Outdoors.  This is the last showing of the Reel Paddling Film Festival this year along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

This year, Lincoln Canoe & Kayak, maker of handcrafted canoes and kayaks in Freeport, Maine Lincoln Canoe & Kayakand a famous boat builder in the Northeast, is partnering with NFCT to raffle a light-weight and versatile 2013 Chebeague kayak to be prized at the conclusion of the nonprofit’s nine-screening series. All attendees at the show will have an opportunity to enter a free raffle to win the boat.

Since 1976, Northern Outdoors has been getting people on the rivers of northern Maine.  Northern Outdoors is Maine’s premier adventure resort for whitewater rafting, and has cabins and a brewery onsite.

Another great reason to visit The Forks this weekend: A planned dam release on June 8 will provide big water and waves along the Dead River’s 16 miles of Class III and IV rapids. Northern Outdoors is the experienced outfitter that can take you on your first rafting trip, or amp up the run if you’re a veteran.

The Reel Paddling Film Festival is in its eighth year and features award winning films in 10 Reel Paddling Film Festival 2013categories. The festival inspires people to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle, and appreciate the heritage of wild places.

The June 8 screening starts at 7:00 pm at the Northern Outdoors Forks Resort Center, 1771 US Rte 201, The Forks, Maine (18 miles north of Bingham). Food and drink are available at the show.
