As I reported a couple of weeks ago, 67 year-old Gil Whitney from Lakeville, Maine set out on May 1 to through paddle our trail by kayak. I was excited to get a message from his wife, Kathy, yesterday reporting that he’s “doing pretty good – I’m really proud of him.” Kathy said Gil had some challenges on the Saranac River resulting in the loss of his paddle and lots of wet gear. But the kindness of local residents helped him through. He’s back on the water, has made his way across Lake Champlain, and is continuing his eastward journey. Thanks for the call, Kathy, and keep at it, Gil!
