Raquette River: Axton Landing to Raquette Falls

This 13-mile (approximately 4-6 hours depending on skill level) out-and-back trip takes paddlers upstream from Axton Landing along the Raquette River to a sandy takeout about a third of a mile northeast of Raquette Falls, a picturesque journey on Section 2 of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

To reach the put-in, turn onto Coreys Road from New York State Route 3, drive until the road turns to dirt, and look for a sign for Axton Landing on the right. From the put-in, paddle about 6 miles to a sandy beach takeout, where you can walk to Raquette Falls, swim, fish or eat lunch. Put back in and paddle downstream to the take-out.
