Family Paddle Day at Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge

If you’ve never been canoeing with your kids but have always wanted to try it, join the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, August 6. Canoes and lessons will be provided for free.

Missisquoi Family Paddle Day sponsored by Northern Forest Canoe TrailMorning instruction will focus on beginner basics like how to fit a life jacket, how to get in and out of a canoe, and how to paddle. Participants can then test their new skills during an easy paddle on the Missisquoi River, and look for bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, and turtles.

Space is limited to 25 people; advance registration is required. Register for free at www.northernforestcanoetrail.org. Check-in will be at 9:00 am at the refuge at Louie’s Landing (Mac’s Bend Road) in Swanton, Vermont. A free lunch will be provided by the Friends of the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge at the refuge visitor center.

Instruction and use of canoes and gear are being generously donated by Montgomery Adventures.
