Family Paddle Day at Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail and the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge will be offering a family paddling day on Saturday, August 6 at the refuge at Louie’s Landing (Mac’s Bend Road) in Swanton, Vermont.

family paddle day on the northern forest canoe trailMorning instruction will focus on beginner basics like how to fit a life jacket, how to get in and out of a canoe, and how to paddle. Participants can then test their new skills during an easy paddle on the Missisquoi River, and look for bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, and turtles.

Check-in will be at 9:00 am. Space is limited; advance registration is required. Register for free at www.northernforestcanoetrail.org. A free lunch will be provided at noon by the Friends of the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge at the refuge visitor center.

Instruction and use of canoes and gear are being generously donated by Montgomery Adventures.
