Paddling Weekend on Upper Androscoggin River

In celebration of the Androscoggin River, four organizations and two outfitters are sponsoring a weekend of whitewater and flatwater paddling on July 9–10. Free paddling instruction will be geared for beginners and families, and experienced paddlers are welcome to join in the fun.

Paddlers Weekend on Androscoggin River July 9-10, 2016 On Saturday, July 9, an Introductory Whitewater Paddling Clinic will go from Mollidgewock Campground to 7 Islands Bridge. Mahoosuc Outdoors will provide instruction on how to paddle through Class I and II whitewater.

On Sunday, July 10, a Family Fun Paddle Day will be based on Pontook Reservoir. Outdoor ESCAPES New Hampshire will lead a morning clinic on flatwater paddling skills. Participants will learn about the wildlife along the Androscoggin while exploring prime moose and osprey habitat.

Free boat rentals and shuttle services will be available both day. Register online at www.androscogginwatershed.org.

Both days are hosted by the Androscoggin River Watershed Council, Androscoggin River Committee (ARC), American Canoe Association, and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, and are part of ARC’s Source to Sea Trek.
