Film Festival Returns to Lake Placid

WAITSFIELD, Vt.  The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) is co-hosting Rapid Media’s Reel Adirondack Lakes & Trails OutfittersPaddling Film Festival World Tour 2013 on Thursday, April 11 with Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. The film festival showcases the best paddling films from around the world. Proceeds from this event support the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. This showing is one of nine screenings of the film festival that NFCT is hosting throughout New York and New England.

This year, Lincoln Canoe & Kayak, maker of handcrafted canoes and Lincoln Canoe & Kayakkayaks in Freeport, Maine and a famous boat builder in New England, is partnering with NFCT to raffle a light-weight and versatile 2013 Chebeague kayak to be prized at the conclusion of this series of nine screenings. All attendees at the show will have an opportunity to enter a free raffle to win the boat.

The Reel Paddling Film Festival is in its eighth year and features award winning films in 10 Reel Paddling Film Festival 2013categories. The festival inspires people to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle and appreciate the heritage of wild places.

The films start at 7pm on Thursday, April 11 at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, 17 Algonquin Drive, Lake Placid, NY.  Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is the longest paddling trail in the nation and runs from Old Forge, New York through Vermont, Québec, and New Hampshire to Fort Kent, Maine. In 2011 the Trail was named “Best Canoe Trail” by Outside Magazine and in 2012 the magazine named the Trail a “Best East Coast Adventure.”
