Northern Forest Canoe Trail at Paddlesport 2011

Kayaker Cathy Mumford shares her story of her 740-mile solo journey on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

Waitsfield, Vt. – What did Cathy Mumford decide to do at age 50 when everything in her life turned upside down?  She decided to kayak the Northern Forest Canoe Trail…alone.

You can hear Cathy’s story and learn more about the water trail from Northern Forest Canoe Trail Executive Director Kate Williams at Paddlesport 2011. Hosted by The Jersey Paddler, this annual event will be held at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ from March 25 through March 27.

Cathy and Kate will present Paddling the Northern Forest Canoe Trail on Friday at 4 pm, Saturday at 10 am, and Sunday at 2 pm.

Paddlesport 2011 brings together more than 100 exhibitors who will present their latest products and share their passion for paddlesports and the outdoors. Kate Williams states, "The show is a terrific place to see the latest canoe and kayak gear, get one-on-one advice from outdoor specialists, and learn about extraordinary destinations like the Northern Forest Canoe Trail."

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is a 740-mile inland paddling trail tracing historic travel routes across New York, Vermont, Québec, New Hampshire, and Maine. NFCT connects people to the Trail’s natural environment, human heritage, and contemporary communities by stewarding, promoting, and providing access to canoe and kayak experiences along this route.  NFCT, Inc was incorporated in 2000 and is a 501(c)3 membership organization.
