Northern Forest Canoe Trail Creates New Hampshire Nordic Ski Package

Discover the serenity of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s winter wilderness on cross country skis.

Waitsfield, Vt. – The Northern Forest Canoe Trail partners with regional businesses to create numerous paddler experiences along the 740-mile route. Now, NFCT offers a winter option in the New Hampshire Nordic Ski Package.Androscoggin River, New Hampshire

The package includes a custom-built day of backcountry skiing in the NFCT watershed, or touring on groomed trails at the Balsams Grand Resort Hotel. A seasoned guide from Outdoor Escapes New Hampshire oversees ski rental and instruction, and shares winter survival, and natural history tips along the way. 

"The Northern Forest Canoe Trail provides a scenic opportunity for winter ski tours, and we are thrilled to have a package that enables people to experience our route in winter," says NFCT Executive Director Kate Williams.

The package also includes two nights at the lovely 150 Main Street Lodging on the Androscoggin which is within walking distance of shops and restaurants in the quaint town of in Errol, NH.

Lodge owner Debbie Freedman says, "The steam is rising from the headwaters of the Androscoggin encasing the trees in crystals, and the sun is shining with a bright blue sky.  The appropriate thing to do now is to "shingle up" and put on the cross country skis to get out there and soak up the peace and tranquility that this incredible area has to offer."
