After a cold winter, paddlers can ease into spring at the upcoming Reel Paddling Film Festival on Wednesday, April 15, 7pm at Red River Theatres in Concord. Hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, New Hampshire Fish & Game and Contoocook River Canoe Company, the film festival showcases award-winning paddling films from around the world.
This year’s films inspire people to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle and appreciate the heritage of the wild places we paddle. There will be a free raffle at intermission, and a chance to get tickets for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s season-long raffle for two new canoes.
This is the third year this paddling film festival has been held in Concord and it is an ideal opportunity to reunite with friends and paddling partners. Proceeds support the nonprofit Northern Forest Canoe Trail including maintenance of access, campsites and carries along its route including stretches of the Androscoggin, Connecticut, and Upper Ammonoosuc rivers and Umbagog Lake.
As the guardian of the state’s fish, wildlife and marine resources, the New Hampshire Fish & Game Dept oversees boating access statewide, and offers programs on boating safety and the prevention of the spread of aquatic invasive species. To learn more, visit Boating in New Hampshire.
Contoocook River Canoe Company is a family owned and operated business specializing in sales, rentals, instruction and guided canoe and kayak tours. They will be on hand with information on great places to paddle and fish in the Concord region.
Red River Theatres is located at 11 South Main St in Concord. Screenings begin at 7pm. Tickets are $12 in advance ($10 student) online only at NorthernForestCanoeTrail.org, or $15 at the door.
This showing is one of five screenings of the film festival that the Northern Forest Canoe Trail is hosting this spring throughout New York and New England.
