Northern Forest Canoe Trail 9th Annual Film Festival Opens Adirondack Paddling Season

NFE logoAfter a cold winter, paddlers can ease into spring at the upcoming Reel Paddling Film Festival on Friday, April 10, 7pm at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. Hosted by Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters, the film festival showcases award-winning paddling films from around the world.

ALTO logoThis year’s films inspire people to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle and appreciate the heritage of the wild places we paddle. There will be a free raffle at intermission, and a chance to get tickets for a season-long raffle for two new canoes.

This is the ninth year this paddling film festival has been held in Lake Placid and it is an ideal opportunity to reunite with friends and paddling partners. Proceeds support the nonprofit Northern Forest Canoe Trail including maintenance of access, campsites and carries along its route from Old Forge to Plattsburgh, NY.

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is located at 17 Algonquin Drive in Lake Placid, NY. Doors open at 6:30pm and screenings begin at 7pm. Tickets are $12 in advance ($10 student) and can be purchased online at NorthernForestCanoeTrail.org, in person or by phone at Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters (518) 891-7450 and Lake Placid Center for the Arts (518) 523-2512, or $15 at the door.

This showing is one of five screenings of the film festival that the Northern Forest Canoe Trail is hosting this spring throughout New York and New England.
