Sidney, ME Resident Interns with Northern Forest Canoe Trail

WAITSFIELD, Vt. – Acadia Tripp of Sidney, Maine recently completed an internship with the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Inc. based in Waitsfield, Vt.

Tripp is a sophomore Recreation Management major at the University of Maine at Machias. She spent six weeks as a stewardship intern working on trail projects that improved waterside campsites, portage trails and access to launch sites in Vermont and Maine.

Tripp led a Waterway Work Trip on Attean Pond near Jackman, Maine, and was part of two other work trips in Vermont. She is a certified Wilderness First Responder, and received the UMaine-Machias Recreation Freshman of the Year Award in April.

The 740-mile NFCT is a canoe and kayak trail connecting lakes, ponds, rivers, streams and portage trails between the Adirondack Mountains of New York to Fort Kent, Maine.
