Vermont River Conservancy: Connecticut River Waterway Work Trip

Connecticut River Waterway Work Trip

The Vermont River Conservancy, in collaboration with the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, is sponsoring a waterway work trip for the weekend of August 29th-30th. The purpose of the trip is to develop a new campsite on the Connecticut River just north of Lancaster, New Hampshire.

The construction of the campsite is a critical step towards the completion of a paddler’s trail which will connect campsites developed by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and the Vermont River Conservancy in the northern reaches of the river to a series of primitive campsites developed by the Upper Valley Land Trust to the south.

Volunteers are needed to help construct a picnic table, a privy, and a timber staircase. There will be plenty of time allotted for exploring this beautiful section of the river. Paddlers should bring their own camping and paddling gear (optional). A limited amount of gear is available for loan. Food will be provided (donations will be accepted to cover food and project expenses).
