How many pints of ice cream fit into a canoe? Enter your guess in the Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s contest, sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, in Freeport, Maine on Friday, July 24. The non-profit that maintains the 740-mile water trail will be in town with a one-of-a-kind designed Wenonah “Cownoe” before an evening presentation at L.L.Bean.
In honor of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s 15th anniversary, Wenonah Canoe and Wood and Wood Sign Systems created a custom-made “Cownoe”— a Wenonah Champlain 18-foot touring canoe made of Kevlar, and designed with a black and white cow graphic. The boat is being raffled as a fundraiser for the non-profit, and will be on display this Friday, July 24 at Ben & Jerry’s on Nathan Nye Street 11am–4pm. The first 50 customers who buy two large cones or two smoothies will receive a complimentary raffle ticket ($10 value) for the canoe.
There will also be an on-going contest at the store to guess how many pints of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream fit into the Cownoe. The first 50 winners will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone.
At 7pm, at the L.L.Bean Flagship Store located at 95 Maine Street, Northern Forest Canoe Trail executive director Karrie Thomas will give a “Virtual Through Paddle” talk about the longest water trail in the nation. The event is free, and seats can be reserved at www.llbean/adventure.
