Richford to Get Regional Trail Sign

WAITSFIELD, Vt. – A dedication in Richford on May 19 at 1:00 pm will unveil a new trail kiosk for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.  The kiosk, to be located in Davis Park, is the result of a successful collaboration between officials from Richford, the interested public and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) organization.

This is the eighth information kiosk for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail in Vermont.  These kiosks include wonderful images of the area, a celebration of the region’s cultural and natural history and information to guide paddlers along this internationally known water trail that stretches from Old Forge, New York to Fort Kent, Maine.

Thanks to a grant from the Northern Border Regional Commission, NFCT was able to coordinate with local officials and the public to design 19 different interpretive panels that will be located along the Trail.  The interpretive panels focus on each location’s unique history and characteristics, including a map showing that spot’s location along the NFCT.  Text and images were developed by local committees.
