  • (June 2013) There is a required fee per person to paddle the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Click here for more details.
  • (June 2013) Boat size regulations for the Allagash Wilderness Waterway: The State of Maine maintains canoe/kayak size regulations on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. See detailed regulations and fact sheet posted on the Department of Conservation website.
  • (June 2013) Mud Pond Carry alternative: Make arrangements with the Chesuncook Lake House to get a shuttle to Chamberlain Bridge.
  • (June 2013) An eagle eye member just noticed that there are two typos in the latitude and longitude listings on Map 12:  Bottom right corner, latitude indicators, where it says 69 15′, it should correctly read 69 05′; Bottom left corner, longitude indicators, where it says 46 10′, it should correctly read 46 05′.
  • (May 2015) For paddlers entering the Allagash Wilderness Waterway via paddle and portage you will not be passing a North Maine Woods Inc. checkpoint to pay your campsite fees and will have to make sure you have adequate cash or you can write a check. Payments can be made at Churchill Dam. More information can be found on this Info Sheet.
