WAITSFIELD, Vt. – Sam Perron of Henniker, New Hampshire spent the summer as a Stewardship Intern for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Inc. based in Waitsfield, Vt.
Perron is a junior at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, N.C., majoring in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Forestry. He spent six weeks working on trail stewardship projects that improved waterside campsites, portage trails, and access to launch sites. Perron led a Waterway Work Trip on the Missisquoi River in the town of Highgate, Vt., and shared his experience on the NFCT’s Voices From the Trail blog.
The 740-mile canoe and kayak trail connects lakes, ponds, rivers, streams and portage trails between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and Fort Kent, Maine.
